Beverly Lemmons

Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Women, Teens, Couples and Families Fredericksburg and Across Virginia

Meet Beverly.

Hi, I’m Beverly Lemmons, LCSW. I am passionate about helping couples, families, and parents strengthen emotional resilience and build secure, lasting relationships — especially during the seasons of life when the pressure of parenting, life transitions, or relational pain makes everything feel harder.

Clients often describe my presence as warm and grounding. I strive to offer a steady, supportive environment where you feel understood and gently guided toward sustainable change.

Individual Therapy – Thrive Counseling (Insurance-Based)

Through Thrive Counseling for Healing & Connection, I provide insurance-based individual therapy for adult women and teens navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and emotional regulation challenges.

My work is trauma-informed and client-centered, integrating:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Solution-Focused Therapy

I provide stage one trauma care focused on safety, stabilization, and nervous system regulation. When clinically appropriate and aligned with readiness, I offer stage two trauma processing, including EMDR, paced thoughtfully and collaboratively.

My focus is helping clients build confidence, emotional safety, and healthier relationship patterns.

Couples & Family Therapy – We Thrive Together (Private Pay / OON)

Through We Thrive Together, our private-pay and out-of-network relational practice, I provide therapy for couples and families.

I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). Using attachment-based approaches, I help partners and families understand their negative interaction cycles, reduce reactivity, and strengthen emotional bonds.

Whether working with couples navigating conflict or families seeking stronger connection, my goal is to foster emotional safety, improve communication, and support secure, responsive relationships at home.

Parenting as Partners — We Thrive Together

When a child's diagnosis, mental health challenges, or behavioral struggles become a source of conflict between parents — the relationship between partners can quietly suffer in ways that go unaddressed.

Parenting as Partners is a focused couples offering specifically for parents navigating the relational impact of raising a child through difficulty. Whether you are trying to get on the same page about a diagnosis, working through different parenting styles that are creating friction, or managing the stress of a child's mental health challenges together — this work creates a dedicated space for the two of you.

This is not family therapy and it is not individual therapy for your child. It is couples work — focused on your relationship as co-parents and partners, so that the weight of what you are carrying together does not become the thing that pulls you apart.

My background in school social work, psychiatric settings, and family systems therapy gives me a particular understanding of the challenges families face when a child is struggling — and what parents need to stay connected through it.

My Background

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Arizona State University, a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Louisville, and a second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Planning from the College of William & Mary.

My experience includes psychiatric admissions, outpatient therapy, and school social work, providing a comprehensive understanding of emotional and behavioral challenges across developmental stages. In addition to clinical work, I serve as a Behavioral Health Professor, mentoring future social workers to practice with compassion, integrity, and clinical excellence.

Connect with Me

I offer in-person therapy in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and telehealth counseling across Virginia. My work focuses on helping individuals, couples, and families rebuild trust, deepen attachment, and move toward greater emotional stability and connection.
