Play-Based and Cognitive Behavior Therapy to Help Children, Teens and Young Adults Build Confidence and Emotional Resilience
Meet Michaela.
Hi, I’m Michaela. I am a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work who specializes in therapy for children, teens, and young adults, with a primary focus on ages 4–15. I offer a warm, calm, and relatable presence that helps young people feel safe, understood, and supported as they explore their emotions in developmentally appropriate ways.
I am passionate about helping children and teens navigate anxiety, big feelings, school stress, social challenges, and life transitions. With the right support, young people can build emotional awareness, stronger communication skills, and lasting regulation tools that carry into adolescence and young adulthood.
Individual Child & Teen Therapy – Thrive Counseling (Insurance-Based)
Through Thrive Counseling for Healing & Connection, I provide insurance-based therapy for children, teens, and young adults.
I work with:
Children ages 5–12 who benefit from play-based and expressive therapy
Preteens and teens (10–15) navigating identity development, friendships, or academic stress
Teens and young adults experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or life transitions
Children coping with school challenges, behavioral concerns, grief, or family changes
Parents seeking support in understanding and responding to their child’s emotional needs
My approach is trauma-informed, play-based, and grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I incorporate:
Play therapy techniques
Sandtray interventions
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Mindfulness practices
Emotion identification and regulation skills
With younger children, therapy is experiential and play-centered. With teens and young adults, sessions include more conversation, insight-building, and skill development while still integrating creative tools when helpful.
I partner closely with parents and caregivers so that progress in therapy translates into meaningful change at home.
I am currently completing the requirements to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), reflecting my commitment to developmentally grounded, child-centered care.
Girls Circle Group – We Thrive Together (Private Pay)
Through We Thrive Together, I co-facilitate our Girls Circle Group, a structured, evidence-based group designed to support girls in building self-esteem, emotional resilience, healthy peer relationships, and confidence in navigating social media and adolescence.
Girls Circle provides a supportive space where girls can share openly, learn emotional regulation skills, and strengthen their sense of identity and belonging within a guided peer community.
