Trauma-Informed Therapy for Men and Couples in Fredericksburg and Across Virginia
Meet Chris.
Hi, I’m Chris. I work with adults, couples, and men who feel stuck in painful relationship patterns, disconnected in their marriage, or overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or stress. Many of the people I see are high-functioning on the outside but internally exhausted, reactive, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy can be a space to slow down, understand your patterns, and build stronger, more secure relationships.
I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and use an attachment-based lens in all of my work. With couples, EFT helps partners move out of negative cycles of conflict, withdrawal, or defensiveness and toward emotional safety and responsiveness. With individuals, it helps uncover the deeper emotions driving behavior and relational stress.
In my individual work, I also incorporate EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). EMDR supports processing past experiences that continue to impact present reactions, while CBT helps identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns contributing to anxiety, depression, or anger. My approach is steady, practical, and emotionally grounded — helping you gain both insight and concrete tools for change.
Individual Therapy – Thrive Counseling (Insurance-Based)
Through Thrive Counseling for Healing & Connection, I provide insurance-based individual therapy for adults. I work with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and relationship concerns — particularly with men who want to feel more confident, less reactive, and more effective in their relationships.
Our work focuses on understanding emotional triggers, building regulation skills, and creating meaningful, sustainable change.
Couples Therapy – We Thrive Together (Private Pay / OON)
I provide couples therapy exclusively through We Thrive Together, our private-pay and out-of-network relational practice. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, I help couples identify their negative cycle, reduce escalation, and rebuild connection.
If you feel stuck in the same arguments, experience emotional distance, or struggle to communicate without it turning into conflict, couples therapy offers a structured, research-backed path toward stronger attachment and relational security.
Men’s Group – We Thrive Together
I also lead our men’s group through We Thrive Together, offering a focused space for men to explore emotional health, identity, leadership, and relational growth in a supportive, attachment-informed community.
Clients describe my presence as steady, direct, and thoughtful. I strive to create a space where you feel respected and understood, while also challenged toward growth and deeper connection.
